COMMITTEE APPROVES CHANGES TO BOYS SOCCER TOURNAMENT
Sectionals will move from the current 32 to 64
|
INDIANAPOLIS - Also at its August 4 meeting, the IHSAA Executive Committee unanimously approved changing the format
of the boys soccer tournament series beginning in 2006-07 including adding a fourth week to the tournament.
The number of sectionals will move from the current 32 to 64 and be played in a Thursday-Saturday format during Week
14 (one week earlier than current format). Each sectional will have four or five teams instead of eight or nine as
is the case in many parts of the state.
The regional will change from a two-team to a four-team affair and be played in a new Thursday-Saturday format.
Currently, the regional is played mid-week in between sectionals and semi-states.
The semi-states and state finals will be played on the following Saturdays and each remain in the current four-team
format.
